    First topic message reminder :

I know this time of year is hard on all of us so let's start it out right by naming off toys either we played with, we saw advertised or just plain right wanted. They can be toys from today too!

    I'll start:

    Hulla Hoop

i never ended up with anything but it was always fun to see what others wound up with.
it was a fun game even if you did not end up with anything. One of my foster mothers liked to play it and called it "Family"

I loved my reel to reel tape recorder I got when i was in my early teens. You don't see those little things anymore. Tapes took over and now it's CDs.

I've still got a Holly Hobby jewelry box with a music box inside I got when I was 12 for Christmas!!!

My all time favorite toy i received at Christmas time one year was a huge coloring book and a huge box of crayons! Loved it loved it! I would spend hours at night while everyone else was asleep at the foot of my bed where the street shown in my window coloring. It was my best friend.

one of the best gifts i was ever given was not for Christmas but was just because my older sister outgrew them, it was a set of Nancy Drew mystery books up to the date at the time, and many more have been written since, by other authors using the pseudonym Carolyn Keene- there were about 50 short fast moving mystery stories and the changes in what Nancy and her friends did, what cars they had, and what they wore were an interesting study even then.

Do you remember the Hardy Boys series? They were very similar to Nancy Drew except they were boys having the adventures. I read the whole Happy Holister Series too. We're talking the early 1960s here. Morganlefey

oh yeh i read those too but did not inherit them from my sister.
i read all the Little Women series, all the Laura Ingalls Wilder series and just about any series of anything i could get my hands on. Reading was secodary only to dissociating as a coping mechanism.

I used to turn our rocking horse upside down and pretend it was a helicopter. Some imagination right?
